Central District Bulldogs small forward Elaine Grigg realised her dream at Monday night’s AFLW Draft, being selected by the Western Bulldogs with Pick 6.

The South Australian talent earned All-Australian honours following a stellar season in the SANFL. She averaged 18 disposals and six tackles during her campaign with the South Australian team.

With outstanding agility, tackling ability, and defensive pressure, Grigg will be a welcome addition to the Bulldogs’ list next season.

The Kenyan-born teenager shared her excitement about being drafted on Monday night.

“It’s so special to be here with all of my family,” Grigg said.

“Coming from Kenya it helped me build a stronger community with the girls.

“I’m so grateful to even be here and be playing footy.

Grigg was also asked about recent Hawthorn retiree Akec Makur Chuot, and how she paved the way for her to make it to the AFLW.

“I think she set the pathway for us girls, and everyone can do it.

“You can just believe in yourself and you can do it.”
